Trainee Solicitor Programme
How Dentons recruits

Application form

Short online form covering education, work history and activities. One application per year, to a specific location. Contextual recruitment via Rare.

Legal High Potential Assessment
Online tests
Untimed online assessment of scenario-based, numerical and verbal questions, about 45 minutes. A shorter practice test is provided first.

To make sure we get a well-rounded view of all our applicants, it consists of scenario-based, numerical and verbal questions. Interview
Other stage
Interview with short questions on past experience, skills, drivers, strengths and motivation for commercial law and Dentons. Format (live or recorded) not stated.
“The interview will see you answer some short questions. It will also look at your past experiences and the skills you've developed through them, along with your key drivers and strengths. We'll also look at why you've chosen to apply to a commercial law firm, and to us specifically.”

Visa sponsorship
Trainee Solicitor Programme
Direct training contract applications are closed for the UK and Dublin; the only route in is the unsponsored Vacation Scheme, though a separate Middle East route stays open.

Solicitor Apprenticeship
A well established six-year apprenticeship with a published salary and exact dates, but no stated sponsorship position.
“Applications open: 29 October 2026. Applications close: 18 December 2026.”
Vacation Scheme
Dentons states outright that it cannot sponsor a visa for its Vacation Scheme, and the scheme is the sole route into its London, Milton Keynes, Scotland and Dublin training contracts.
“You must hold the right to work in the location you're applying for. Because of the nature of the scheme, we can't sponsor candidates for a visa.”
Open Days
Dentons runs one-day open days in London on 17 March 2027 and Glasgow on 10 March 2027 for first-year law and second-year non-law students.
