Questions first-year students ask
What is a spring week?
A short insight programme, usually a week in the Easter holiday of your first year, run mainly by investment banks and law firms. Many use it as their main route into a summer internship the following year, which is why they matter more than their length suggests.
Which employers run spring weeks in the UK?
Mostly banks and law firms. Consulting largely does not: we checked and Bain, BCG, Oliver Wyman, Kearney and L.E.K. run no first-year programme in the UK at all, and neither do Google, Microsoft, Amazon or Palantir. Optiver and IMC run first-year programmes abroad but not here.
When do spring week applications close?
From October through January, and several close before Christmas of your first term. Where an employer publishes no date we say so rather than printing one they never set.
