Civic Engineers, trading as Civic, is a multidisciplinary practice covering civil engineering, structural engineering, transport and movement, building services engineering, environment, sustainability, geoconsultancy, archaeology and built heritage, community engagement and placemaking, having recently absorbed the MEP consultancy Watt Energy and Consulting Engineers, the place experts New Practice, and launched Civic Heritage. It states plainly that it offers multiple entry routes including non academic routes, apprenticeships, work experience placements and accessible internships, and publishes a 2026 graduates brochure alongside a benefits statement. Development is built on what the practice calls a bespoke approach to Continuous Personal Development, codesigned with the employee rather than set centrally, on the stated view that personal development is not linear. An in house mentoring programme is also codesigned by the people taking part, and can range from a lunchtime walk and talk to a site based location learning visit to a theory session. The practice funds continuous learning, education, qualifications, the path to chartership, progression and promotion. Benefits include annual paid volunteering leave of either two days in the UK or a week abroad. An internal WorkBuzz survey in October 2024 found 87 per cent of staff would recommend Civic as a great place to work. Nothing on the careers pages addresses sponsorship, visas or right to work.
